XCG congratulates one of its own employees – Cherie Harthun on her performance in the International Association of Ultrarunners 9th – 24 Hour World Championship – Sept 8-9 in Katowice, Poland. Cherie was selected to participate in the event as part of Team Canada.

There were 248 athletes entered in the event representing 35 nations. This was a record number of participants for the 24 Hour World Championships. Cherie ran 164.4 km (102 miles) in the 24-hour race. She finished 63rd out of 98 female particpants.

The International Association of Ultrarunners came into existence in 1984. Today there are more than a thousand ultra races around the world with more than a hundred thousand ultra runners.With more than 50 federations and thousands of elite athletes having participated in its events over the years, IAU has respectfully upheld its mandate of developing the sport of ultrarunning.
