Consideration was given to the current regulatory context, such as the maximum acceptable concentrations (MAC) for trihalomethanes (THM) and bromodichloromethane (BDCM) established in the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality (Health Canada, 2007) and the newly published Manitoba Safe Drinking Water Regulations, as well as anticipated regulatory trends, including a more stringent regulatory limit for THMs and a new MAC for haloacetic acids (HAA).
