Water Resources Engineer
Oakville

XCG has an immediate opening in our Oakville office for a Water Resources Engineer.

The successful candidate will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals. As the ideal candidate, you will have a Graduate degree in environmental engineering (or equivalent) with some research experience, and will have a P.Eng. designation. You will have responsibility for:

  • Project and client management
  • Support and/or lead various business development initiatives in Southern Ontario
  • Mentor junior and intermediate engineers

You will possess good interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), problem-solving, organizational, time-management and decision-making skills, and you must have the ability to work as a team member and deliver quality work with tight schedules. Ideally, you will have the following technical experience:

  • Stormwater management experience (min 4 years); some pond experience, urban hydrologic model use (SWMM, HSPF, HEC1, HEC-HMS)
  • Flood analysis, flood flow estimating, hydraulic routing and familiarity with hydraulic models such as SEC2 or HEC-RAS
  • Water quality experience and familiarity with water quality models such as QUAL2e or WASP7 would be an asset.
  • Collection system assessment experience and model development and application experience (SWMM)
  • Experience with Ontario's Source Water Protection initiative and some project related experience with one or more of Ontario's Source Water Protection areas.
  • Project Management experience for municipal or conservation authority water resources studies
  • Some demonstrated programming skills would be an asset (FORTRAN, VB, C++)

Jr. Water or Wastewater Process Engineer
Oakville

XCG has an immediate opening for a Junior Water or Wastewater Process Engineer in our Oakville office.

The successful candidate will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals. We are looking for a recent engineering graduate with 1-2 years of experience in water or wastewater process engineering for our Water and Wastewater Group. The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer in Training with PEO
  • Undergraduate and or Masters degree in a related engineering discipline
  • Knowledge and experience in municipal water or wastewater process engineering
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team setting

Civil Engineer
Kingston

XCG is seeking an experienced Intermediate Civil Engineer for our Kingston office, to help us grow our Ontario municipal engineering consulting business in Eastern Ontario.

If you are looking for an opportunity to explore all facets of projects in the municipal infrastructure engineering and consulting industry (water and wastewater); if you want to play a greater role in project management, client development and maintenance with increased responsibilities and ability to grow yourself, then XCG may be able to provide you with those opportunities. In this intermediate to senior level position, you will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals in our Municipal Infrastructure and Water Resources Group. We will rely on you to coach staff, generate detailed development designs, prepare project proposals and estimates, and provide overall project management. You will also be responsible for participating in municipal infrastructure design projects (water supply, treatment, and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment facilities), preparing project documentation and ensuring quality service to clients at all times.

You must have a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental engineering, P.Eng. designation and 6-12 years of related engineering consulting experience, preferably in Canada. The qualified candidate will be a proven leader, with knowledge of water and wastewater system facility assessment, project management, or detailed design. Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Trainers / Operators

XCG Training and Operations Inc., is expanding its training and operations business. XCG is currently looking for experienced (full or part-time) trainers/operators to develop and deliver water and wastewater (classroom and hands-on) training courses to its clients throughout Ontario. XCG is committed to providing high quality customized training programs to its municipal and First Nations clients.

Duties:

  • Develop training material for water and/or wastewater courses
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on courses to municipal and First Nations operators

Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years experience in developing and delivering water and/or wastewater courses for municipal operators
  • At least five (5) years experience in operating water or wastewater facilities in Ontario
  • Valid operating licenses from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment in Water Treatment (Class 2) and Water Distribution (Class 2)
  • Able to travel to small communities throughout Ontario
  • Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Working knowledge of various computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.

XCG is seeking engineering graduates interested in working in the exciting and challenging field of environmental consulting. Positions are available in Oakville, Kitchener, Kingston, and Cincinnati.

Successful applicants will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals. Main assignments initially will be to assist with Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Site Remediation, Compliance Audits, and other environmental engineering projects as directed by XCG Project Managers. Both office and field work will be required.

Applicants should possess good interpersonal communication (both oral and written), problem-solving, organizational, time management and decision-making skills. Applicants must have the ability to work as a team member and deliver quality work with tight schedules.
