Water-Wastewater Process Engineer / Project Manager

XCG has an immediate opening for an Intermediate Water-Wastewater Process Engineer / Project Manager in our Oakville office.

The successful candidate will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals. The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in consulting or similar
  • Strong knowledge of process engineering of water and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Masters degree in engineering is desirable
  • Able to work independently and manage clients and projects
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • P.Eng. designation

Civil / Municipal Engineer
Kingston

XCG is seeking an experienced Civil / Municipal Engineer for our Kingston office, to help grow our Ontario municipal engineering consulting business in Eastern Ontario.

If you are looking for an opportunity to explore all facets of projects in the municipal infrastructure engineering and consulting industry (water and wastewater); if you want to play a greater role in project management, client development and maintenance with increased responsibilities and ability to grow yourself, then XCG may have position for you.

In this intermediate level position, you will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals in our Municipal Services and Water & Wastewater Groups. You will be responsible for participating in municipal infrastructure design projects (water supply, treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment facilities), preparing project documentation and ensuring quality service to clients at all times.

You must have a bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental engineering, a P.Eng. designation and a minimum of 5 years related engineering consulting experience. The qualified candidate will be a proven leader, with knowledge of water and wastewater system/facility assessment, project management, or detailed design. Superior communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.

Environmental Engineer
Edmonton

XCG is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer for our Edmonton office.

As the successful candidate, you will have a minimum of eight years experience in consulting engineering and must be registered as a professional engineer in the Province of Alberta. You have a strong site assessment and remediation background with knowledge of current environmental regulations in Alberta as well as experience in the following areas :

  • designated substances and hazardous materials
  • Phase 1 and II site assessments
  • risk assessments
  • environmental compliance auditing

You are self-motivated with strong communication and technical writing skills. It is also essential that you have good interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, time-management and decision-making skills. Applicants must have the ability to work as a team member and deliver quality work with tight schedules. A demonstrated ability to successfully market environmental consulting services to potential clients in Western Canada is also desired.

As an integral member of our Edmonton team, you will focus on creating innovative and practical solutions to address a wide variety of environmental concerns. The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Phase I, Phase II, due diligence and risk assessments
  • Coordination of environmental site investigation programs
  • Coordination of soil and groundwater remediation programs
  • Project management, including report writing and technical review
  • Business development and marketing initiatives
  • Phase 1 and II site assessments

Senior Water Resources Engineer
Oakville or Kingston

XCG has an immediate opening for a Senior Water Resources Engineer in our Oakville or Kingston office.

The successful candidate will join an integrated multi-disciplinary team of environmental professionals. As the ideal candidate, you will have a Graduate degree in environmental engineering (or equivalent) with some research experience, and will have a P.Eng. designation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • project and client management
  • support and/or lead various business development initiatives in southern Ontario
  • mentor junior and intermediate staff
  • a proficiency in marketing and business development in the water resources field.

You will possess good interpersonal, communication (both oral and written), problem-solving, organizational, time-management and decision-making skills, and you must have the ability to work as a team member and deliver quality work with tight schedules.

Ideally you will have the following technical experience:

  • stormwater management experience (min. 4 years); some pond experience, urban hydrologic model use (SWMM, HSPF, HEC1, HEC-HMS)
  • Flood analysis, flood flow estimating, hydraulic routing and familiarity with hydraulic models such as HEC2 or HEC-RAS
  • water quality experience and familiarity with water quality models such as QUAL2e or WASP7 would be an asset
  • Collection system assessment experience and model development and application experience (SWMM)
  • experience with Ontario's Source Water Protection initiative and some project related experience with one or more of Ontario's Source Water Protection areas
  • Project Management experience for municipal or conservation authority water resource studies
  • some demonstrated programming skills would be an asset (FORTRAN, VB, C++)

Environmental Engineer

XCG is seeking a senior environmental professional with experience in environmental site assessment and remediation for our Kingston office.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 8 years experience in consulting engineering
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of current environmental regulations in Ontario
  • A strong site assessment and remediation background
  • Hold an appropriate professional designation for the Province of Ontario, such as Professional Engineer or Professional Geoscientist
  • Knowledge and experience with municipal civil infrastructure projects

It is also essential that the candidate has a demonstrated ability to successfully market environmental consulting services to potential clients in Ontario. Knowledge and experience in the areas of designated substances and hazardous materials, air approvals, risk assessments, and environmental compliance auditing would also be an asset.

XCG Training and Operations Inc., is expanding its training and operations business. XCG is currently looking for experienced (full or part-time) trainers/operators to develop and deliver water and wastewater (classroom and hands-on) training courses to its clients throughout Ontario. XCG is committed to providing high quality customized training programs to its municipal and First Nations clients.

Duties:

  • Develop training material for water and/or wastewater courses
  • Deliver classroom and hands-on courses to municipal and First Nations operators

Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years experience in developing and delivering water and/or wastewater courses for municipal operators
  • At least five (5) years experience in operating water or wastewater facilities in Ontario
  • Valid operating licenses from the Ontario Ministry of the Environment in Water Treatment (Class 2) and Water Distribution (Class 2)
  • Able to travel to small communities throughout Ontario
  • Strong presentation and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Working knowledge of various computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, etc.
