The following are some of the regulatory reporting required to be submitted by Ontario companies to government departments.
Waste Regulation
Subject Waste Generators must re-register their sites and waste classes annually on HWIN (Hazardous Waste Information Network). Any new waste classes require amendment of HWIN. MORE >
E2 (Environmental Emergency) Response Plans
Under CEPA, Federal regulations require organizations to prepare, implement and test E2 Response Plans if they store listed substances in quantities greater than the specified amounts. Click here for the E2 substance list.
Organizations are required to submit an E2 Notification to Environment Canada regarding storage details and maximum quantities stored on-site. They must also notify Environment Canada that an E2 Plan has been prepared, implemented and tested. Submission dates are specified in the regulation. MORE >
NPRI
Under CEPA, organizations are required to submit annual reports to Environment Canada on pollutants released into the atmosphere. New compounds have been added to the list, including phosphorus (total), noylphenols and their ethoxylates, octylphenols and their ethosylates, carbonyl sulphide. Reports must be submitted by June 1 each year. MORE >
O.Reg. 127
O.Reg. 127 requires industrial, commercial and institutional facilities to prepare annual air emission reports based on SIC codes and specified criteria. Reports must be submitted by June 1 each year. MORE >
P2 (Pollution Prevention) Plans
Notices in the Canada Gazette require organizations using specific hazardous materials to prepare P2 Plans that are required to be submitted to environment Canada. MORE >
Certificates of Approval
Applications must be submitted to the MOE for Certificates of Approval for Air Emissions, Permits to Take Water, and Waste Management (e.g., landfill). Applications must be submitted to the MOE in advance of installation or operation of equipment/facilities.
