XCG undertook the design and construction project management of a landfill gas well field and perimeter road expansion project. The project included the detail design of the berm, perimeter road (constructed of native pit run gravel excavated from on-site quarry), landfill gas header extension, and condensate knockout. A geotechnical letter (produced by Braun Geotechnical Ltd.) was included in the project and evaluated both the static stability of the berm which was constructed on waste, and identified requirements for compaction and quality control of the earthen structure.
The berm consisted of over 8,000 cubic metres of pit run gravel with a 6-metre-wide perimeter road and lined surface watercourse to collect and direct stormwater to an on-site ravine. The perimeter road was approximately 320 metres in length and design with a maximum slope of 10 percent. A landfill gas header and condensate knockout were installed along the edge of the perimeter road and connected to the existing landfill gas header.
The project also included specifications and tender package along with tendering support services. Construction management included the construction kick-off meeting and minutes; contract administration including issuing change orders, payment certificates, and progress reporting; Certificate of Substantial Performance; construction closure meeting; and final inspection. Upon substantial completion of the project, XCG prepared the As-Recorded drawings.
XCG also provided limited construction oversight with full-time on-site construction during berm construction and during the landfill gas main header testing. Call out services were undertaken as needed.
