Engineering Design Services for 2020 Landfill Expansion – Alberta-Pacific Landfill

XCG was retained by Alberta-Pacific Forest Industries Inc. to undertake the detailed design of the 2020 Landfill Expansion at the Alberta-Pacific Landfill (Site). The Alberta-Pacific Landfill is a pulp mill landfill accepting fly ash, grate ash, reject lime, dregs/grits, alum sludge and biosolids wastes from the on-Site pulp plant. XCG undertook the detailed design for the new engineered landfill expansion in 2019 in anticipation of construction in 2020.

Landfill Gas and Greenhouse Gas Reporting – Knockholt Sub-Regional Landfill

XCG undertook a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Assessment and subsequent reporting for the Knockholt Sub-Regional Landfill (Site) as the Site was exceeding the Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) threshold for GHG reporting of 10,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO2e) per year.

Stage 2 Final Closure Design – Nanaimo Regional Landfill

XCG was retained by the Regional District of Nanaimo to undertake the detailed design (up to 90%) of the Stage Two Final Closure at the Nanaimo Regional Landfill (Site). XCG undertook the detailed design for this partial closure area in 2018 in anticipation of a construction date of 2019 or 2020.

Design, Operations, and Closure Plan, Greater Vernon Recycling and Disposal Facility

XCG was retained by the Regional District of North Okanagan to complete an updated Design, Operations and Closure Plan for the Greater Vernon Recycling and Disposal Facility.

Design, Operations and Closure Plan, Phase 1 Closure Design Brief, and Conformance Review

XCG completed an updated Design, Operations, and Closure Plan, Phase 1 Closure Design Brief, and Conformance Review for the Revelstoke Landfill. The site, which is contained over two properties, includes a municipal solid waste landfill, transfer station, composting area, marshalling areas, recycling area, weigh scale, and operational infrastructure.

Design, Operations, and Closure Plan, Sechelt Landfill

The Sechelt Landfill is a natural attenuation landfill that has been in operation since 1971. The site includes a municipal solid waste landfill, public drop off area, public weigh scales, and operational infrastructure.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Assessments

XCG was retained by the City of Red Deer to undertake the annual environmental monitoring programs for both the Waste Management Facility and the 1972 Landfill for the years of 2008 to 2017.

Environmental Monitoring, Reporting, and Training

XCG was retained by the Regional District of North Okanagan in 2009 to develop a Hydrogeological Performance Assessment and Design and Operations Plan for the Armstrong Spallumcheen Recycling and Disposal Facility. As a component of this work, XCG developed an Environmental Monitoring Program for the site, which included groundwater, surface water, and landfill gas sampling. This Environmental Monitoring Program was updated in 2012.

Phase I/II Lateral Expansion, Harmac Pulp and Paper Mill Landfill

The Harmac Pulp and Paper Mill Landfill is owned and operated by Harmac Pacific, A Division of Nanaimo Forest Products. The site includes a pulp and paper mill, pulp and paper waste landfill, and operational infrastructure. The landfill accepts the solid waste produced by the pulp and paper mill processes.

Landfill Closure Design Brief & Approval of Evapotranspiration Final Cover System

The Cherryville Recycling and Disposal Facility is located within the Regional District of North Okanagan. XCG prepared the landfill closure design brief, including final contours, evapotranspiration cover, soil balance, erosion and sediment control, surface water management, leachate management, landfill gas management, end use, and environmental monitoring program.
